I'm honored and excited to serve as your 2014 MASFAA President. Not only does serving as your president give me the opportunity to meet and interact with many of you, I am fortunate to have a diverse and energetic executive council that will serve MASFAA well during the next year. They are already hard at work planning a summer institute, leadership symposium, pre-conference workshop and of course, the 2014 conference. Speaking of the MASFAA conference, it is not too early to get the dates on your calendar: October 12 - 15, 2014 in beautiful Charleston, WV.
If you haven't already renewed your MASFAA membership, I encourage you to do so today. Below are 6 great reasons why you need MASFAA and MASFAA needs you:
Make connections and meet new people - Connecting with other financial aid professionals is critical for success. Being a member of MASFAA allows you to grow your professional network far beyond the reaches of your state.
Actively participate - Join a committee that focuses on an area of the financial aid profession that interests you. MASFAA needs your interest and knowledge!
Share your knowledge - Just as you will have the opportunity to learn from others, they will have the opportunity to learn from you.
Financial aid - This is what we are all about - what we do each day! MASFAA strives to provide members with information and training on current topics, trends, and changes that impact financial aid.
Advocacy & Access - What we can accomplish as an association goes far beyond what any one of us can accomplish on our own.
Attend - Whether you're new to financial aid or a seasoned professional, MASFAA offers amazing professional development opportunities including Summer Institute, Leadership Symposium, and the annual conference.
As you can see, there are many reasons why being a member of MASFAA is a professionally, educationally, and personally rewarding experience. Don't miss out - be a part of it!
All the Best,
Sara Beth Holman
