| Minutes/Report: DATE: October 17, 2010 - Indiana Report LOCATION: Chicago ATTENDEES: GUEST(S): MINUTES STATUS: The Indiana Student Financial Aid Association is actively engaged sponsoring ten high school guidance counselor workshops being held throughout the state in October and November. The association assumed many of the logistical chores this year as cutbacks with state funding eliminated the ability of our state grant partners from continuing to meet those duty needs. It has gone well though as we are continuing to serve the needs by educating hundreds of counselors on federal and state aid changes. Progress continues on development of our 75th Anniversary Conference to be held on December 16 and 17 at the Indianapolis North Marriott. Retired NASFAA President, Dallas Martin, will be the keynote speaker at the special Thursday evening banquet. Prior to dinner, he and Joe Russo, Director of Student Financial Strategies for the University of Notre Dame, will be conducting a book signing in honor of Joe’s new work “The Art and Science of Student Aid Administration in the 21st Century”. Dallas wrote the foreword to the book. The enthusiasm is running high for this unique conference that will entwine traditional sessions, geared towards helping with daily work issues, around a set of general sessions focusing on the historic significance of the financial aid industry and our pertinent current role in shaping higher education. This will definitely prove to be a must-see event. Preparations are also in high gear for College Goal Sunday this coming February. Site expansion and increased visibility through advertising are both expected in this coming year as we strive to help more students than ever gain awareness of the options available to assist them in paying for their advanced degrees. We are confident with the volunteer team being assembled that this will prove to be another great year of service for students through this initiative.
