2005-06 MASFAA EXECUTIVE COUNCIL REPORT

1. Summary of activities:

• Solicited Association President from each state for recommendations on representatives to the MASFAA Federal Issues Committee and have compiled a committee consisting of seven individuals representing Illinois, Wisconsin, Michigan, Ohio, Indiana and West Virginia.

• Monitored various legislation and events regarding both Reauthorization and Reconciliation as it applies to federal educational funding.

• Compiled approximately 25 information pieces that were disseminated via the MASFAA listserv to all MASFAA members.

• Solicited input from committee members and state presidents of those states not represented on the committee for the formulation of the MASFAA Position Letter on Reauthorization/Reconciliation. (See attached position letter)

• Disseminated the approved letter to 18 Senators and 112 Representatives of the 109^th Congress.

2. Activities planned, not yet completed:

• Update the MASFAA Federal Issues web page to reflect current information regarding the current 109^th Congress.

• Continue to monitor pending legislation and keep the membership informed of outcomes, as well as being able to stimulate action as necessary.

• Gather information as it becomes available as to how we will administer this legislation once final.
