OASFAA had a busy summer. We began with a great transition
in which Mary Lynn Perri took the reigns as President. Throughout
the summer, many of the committees met and began planning for
a year full of activity. Outreach, one of the busiest OASFAA
committees, has already begun the year by participating in the
Articulation workshops sponsored by OACAC, and continued reaching
out to the high school community by offering the Guidance Counselor
workshops in November/December. Speaking of outreach, the College
Goal Sunday chairs began planning early and have already selected
the sites for the 2006 College Goal Sunday that will be held
on Sunday February 12th. Sites and information can be found
at ohiocollegegoalsunday.org.
This year Ohio again offered leadership training. This year
the leadership class had 22 members and met in early October
for a two-day retreat. The theme of this year’s class
was “Passing the Torch,” which fit nicely into our
conference theme of “Training for the Gold”. Our
winter conference was held at Columbus Marriott December 7-9.
The conference planning committee worked hard at creating another
great conference, which not only featured NASFAA Training, Leadership,
and Need Analysis, but also Default Prevention training from
the Department of Ed.
