MASFAA Executive Council
2005-06 Year-End Report

Conference Site Selection
Submitted by Dick Battig, Chair
Student Loan Finance Corp

Committee Goals:
The overall objective of the Site Selection Coordinator is to secure appropriate meeting sites for our annual conference and present them to the Executive Council for final approval. The sites must be reserved several years in advance to secure adequate space. Some sites are completed many years in advance if there is an opportunity to negotiate a confirmed rate structure that is beneficial to the Association. Twelve to eighteen months prior to an actual conference, sites are revisited to assure that the facility is still in a position to meet the needs of the Association.

In addition to the primary duties of securing an annual conference site, the Site Selection coordinator assists both the President and President Elect with Executive council meetings, retreats, and symposiums. This entails site selection, meal functions, and rooming lists for the various activities. The site Selection coordinator is often asked for input as to which cities and locations are good to work with. This sharing of information can also extend to assisting our membership states.
